artist

statement

My passion is art in its different hypostases: visual and sound art, conceptual installations, digital art, architecture and design. Whatever is involving the process of creating, with an accent on process rather than result - is the art that I confess.

I couldn't escape becoming an artist. Growing up in the artistic surrounding I learned to sense the art with all my being. Classical music studies made me hear the semi-tones and follow the leitmotifs; studying architecture taught me to feel the space; design studies and travelling  made me understand a very important thing: being an artist means waking up one person and going to sleep a different one.

I believe in senses. I believe that the best art is born when the artist dives into the senses, feelings and emotions. Only the art that moves the artist himself can move the audience.

My art style is changing all the time. I think the reason is the university. Being a student makes me discover so many things every day that I can’t but try them! Visual arts, plastic arts, sound and video design, stage design, performing arts – these are the directions of my interest, and the most interesting projects are born on the crossroads of these directions.

By means of art I prefer to talk about the subjects that I feel and experience as a human and as a woman. As a matter of fact, I often choose the topics of female psychology for my projects.

One of the projects, based on the psychology research, is EMOTOXEMIA, or THE LIMITS. It appeared as a combination of plastic arts with video and sound design, and was selected for Venice Biennale/Anima Mundi International Art Festival in Venice, Italy, in October 2019. In February 2020 the following project received the Honorable Mention by the Jury at LICC London International Creative Competition, London, Great Britain. In August 2020 it was projected at Shinano Primitive Sense Art Festival 2020 - The Purification of Mountains, the Mask of Water, Omachi, Japan. And in March 2021 it was selected for the Project LAZARETTA Eye’s Walk Festival, Syros, Greece.

In 2020 the photo works from the experimental photo-project ALICE won the 3rd Place recognition in Ordinary No-Ordinary Art & Photography Exhibition by Tall Sequoia Gallery, Canada, were represented at LoosenArt International Photo Group Exhibition, Millepiani Gallery, Rome, Italy, and at Black+White III International Photo Exhibition, Envision Arts Online Gallery.

The same year, the installations A DREAM: SIDE VIEW and A DREAM: SECTION were selected for the [s]BUK, the 2nd International Student Biennale of Art of Book, Belgrade, Serbia, exhibited at the Reality Check Exhibition, Belem Gallery, Lisbon, Portugal and at ONAR-Dreams International Group Art Exhibition, Marble Art Centre, Athens, Greece.

In 2021 a series of geometric abstractions Integration, that explore the boundaries between architectural planning and visual art, has been selected for the Fresh Legs 2021 International Art Exhibition and is exhibited at Galleri Heike Arndt DK in Berlin, Germany.

Currently I'm working on conceptual project THE FRAGMENTS, which examines such terms as isolation, fragility and perception of the reality. A short experimental film created within the project was screened at film festivals in Greece, Czech Republic, USA, and received ITT Ettore Majorana Prize for the best experimental short film at Milazzo Film Festival, Italy.

Besides, I'm having my last course of the Interior Design academic program in the University of West Attica, Athens, Greece, and making a research for my diploma work on the topic Mapping Projection: the Art of Spatial Metamorphoses.
